Any transfer from one machine to another involves transfer of a lot of data. Particularly if the mail on the machine has been in use for a while. Typically it’ll be, as the Windows Live Mail would have the hotmail/MSN mail down on the machine. The contact/address book is another set of very useful data. The transfer is a simple process. Create an archive of existing data which is an executable. Take the executable to the target machine and execute it there. Another wizard guides the user through the restoration process.

An external drive or a removable media like a Flash drive should be specified while creating the archive, though any drive may be specified. One could burn a CD/DVD for the transfer too or just write to a network drive or even FTP the archive over to a server. The file is automatically named on the drive specified. The name will include the date of creation if so specified.

On the Transfer file destination page if the burn CD/DVD option is chosen, write speed and couple of other parameters such as if the disc should be erased etc can be chosen. On choosing FTP, the ftp server name, user name & password, remote directory etc has to be set.
