Editor's review

This is a tool that helps you simulate diffraction patterns through various crystals.

This software utility lets you simulate diffraction patterns as it happens when light passes through several of standard crystals and Bravais lattices. crystalXgraphic is able to simulate diffraction patterns in 2D and 3D crystal lattices. Educational institutes and scientific investigation units can use this tool to study diffraction from crystal structures in real-time. Adjustable parameters help real-time investigation of crystal diffraction with adjustable lattice parameters, wavelength and crystal rotation, in addition to direct measurements from diffraction patterns. You are able to produce a diffraction pattern on an adjustable screen as in a laboratory experiment. You are able to simulate the diffraction from 2D Bravais lattices in oblique, rectangular, square, centered rectangular and hexagonal modes. You could choose from five 2D and fourteen 3D bravais lattices as well as from the common crystal structures of diamond, sodium chloride, Cesium chloride, zincblende or hexagonal close packed.

The display includes a 3D plot of the diffraction pattern intensity. You get a an adjustable 2D section from the 3D plot. It should be easy to, quickly and easily. analyze the size and separation of diffraction maxima and minima. The 3D lattices covered include Cubic P, Cubic I, Cubic F, Tetragonal P, Tetragonal I, Orthorhombic P, Orthorhombic I, Orthorhombic F, Orthorhombic F, Monoclinic P, Monoclinic C, Triclinic P, Hexagonal P and Trigonal P (Rhombohedral). The interface is generally simple, but is obviously not for novices but for people with expertise in the domain. It will take a little time for familiarization even for them. This is a very good product and is a good option when you have a need for a tool like this. Go ahead and try it out in your exact work settings.

Publisher's description

A 3D simulation of diffraction from crystal structures and Bravais lattices that generates diffraction patterns in a lab setup. Crystal lattice parameters, crystal orientation, incident wavelength and other parameters are adjustable in real time to produce a diffraction pattern on an adjustable screen as in a laboratory experiment. Menu choices select from the five 2D and fourteen 3D bravais lattices and from the common crystal structures of diamond, sodium chloride, cesium chloride, zincblende or hexagonal close packed.
A 3D plot of the diffraction pattern intensity is presented together with an adjustable 2D section from th 3D plot that allows analysis of the size and separation of diffraction maxima and minima.
