Editor's review

This tool helps download ADB driver.

ADB or the Android Debug Bridge is an essential tool for Android developers. ADB helps access their devices in debug mode. This installer leads you through the download process. You are given options to for Fast boot and Drivers. This installer helps direct download ADB, fast boot and ADB drivers. With this process, you will not need to download the complete Android SDK. The download process is completely automated. With this tool you will get ADB downloaded as also the available Google drivers from the latest SDK. Besides downloading ADB, the latest drivers it is able to detect 32 or 64 bit versions. The complete process takes only about 20 seconds. It obtains the components from the proper source, the original Google SDK source. The complete process would start with download of the installer. You then run it with administrator privileges.

Select the option for download of ADB/Fastboot by choosing (Y/N), if you need it. Next option is a similar selection for current user only. Driver selection also can be made at the next option request. The whole process being automatic, the user does not have to do anything really. The developers provide troubleshooting processes should the download fail. The obvious first check would be if you are on-line and your Internet connection is working. “adb-installer.log” logs events during the download process; this will need to be checked for any messages. You should ensure that KB2917929 installer update is installed. This provides driver enumeration problems in Windows 8.1. Any older versions of Google USB drivers should be uninstalled. Also, ensure that there are no device detection problems. This is a very good tool.

Publisher's description

These two tools allow you to send terminal commands to your phone from your computer via USB. They both serve different functions, but they can be installed with relative ease at the same time, so it's helpful to have both. Here's a (very) brief breakdown on what these tools do:
Android Debug Bridge (ADB): This tool allows you to send a wide array of terminal commands including but not limited to basic Linux shell commands, plus some specialty developer commands to your phone at just about any time (as long as you have debugging enabled on your phone). You can send commands while the phone is turned on and booted, or even when it's in recovery mode. While ADB is often used in conjunction with rooting or modifying your phone, you can use ADB to send terminal commands to unrooted devices as well.
Fastboot: When you need to modify your phone's firmware, fastboot is the tool you need. This allows you to send commands to the bootloader, which means you can flash/modify things like custom recoveries. You can't flash whole ROMs with it, but it's helpful for many things that ADB can't do. Fastboot isn't enabled for all phones, so you may have to check your specific device.
Both of these tools come with the Android SDK, however this is an extremely large download that, frankly, most users who are interested in ADB and fastboot don't need. If you just want to root your phone, flash some ROMs, and mess around in the terminal without having to muck about with complex button combinations, skip the SDK. Here's how.
