Pros: BS1 Enterprise with Manufacturing is a multi-currency manufacturing, distribution and accounting system. It has General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders and Quotes, Manufacturing, Sales Analysis, and Bank Reconciliation modules. It’s other features has been discussed elsewhere in relation to the BS1Accounting software Free Edition. Only the manufacturing related functionality that will be discussed here in this review. The launch pad with manufacturing brings up the items, orders, receipts and of course reports options. The Manufacturing module tracks manufacturing orders, MRP ERP material and resource (labour and equipment) requirement planning, WIP (work in process), production costs, prints bills of materials, and passes data to the inventory software. Features include unlimited number of materials and resources (labor and equipment) per product, optional automatic depletion of component material inventory or entry of actual usage with variance tracking, manufacturing order status report, material and resource planning reports and other functionality. Manufacturing orders default to the product standard component items and resources. Should there be substitutions required at the time of actual manufacture that can be taken care of too, whether because of a resource being overbooked or a customization need. Bills of Materials may be printed for the manufacturing personnel showing the materials and resources to be used. Receipts default using data from the manufacturing order, so only exceptions require entry, such as unplanned substitutions or differences in the quantities of materials or resources used. Material Requirements Planning report shows scheduling of shipments, current inventory levels, sales orders, POs and manufacturing orders. ERP resource scheduling report helps schedule labor and equipment based on pending orders. Standard and actual usage reports and the summary report help find detailed usage and set the actual manufacturing costs as well as track WIP etc. over a selected time period. Customization source is made available by the publisher.

Cons: This is one application for people with the right domain and programming skills. No obvious problems were noticed.

Overall: Good functionality, ease of use, attention to detail makes this application a 4 star contender easily.
