FaxMail is a simple program to send and receive faxes on the computer if equipped with a fax/modem card.
Pros: This application adds a virtual printer [Electrasoft Print to Fax]. This allows any program that can print to send and receive fax. The application detects if any of the Com ports is equipped with a fax/modem card and configures the same to send and receive faxes.
The user interface is a fax like display. When ready, ready to receive fax indicator is turned on. Clicking on the Send a fax button brings up a send fax page to configure sending fax parameters. Cover page/ no cover page selection, actual fax page preview are some functions available at this stage.
Depending on the individual or a group address available in the faxbook faxes will get sent. Simple interface has fax like controls, besides status messages. The status indications show if there are any incoming faxes and how many messages are queued for transmission.
Cons: This is a very limited functionality application. Looking at the way IP based faxing is gaining popularity it would be nice to support that. Machines connected to broadband lines are becoming more common than the dial up ones where a fax/modem card would be standard.
Overall: A single featured application, reasonably well designed and with fairly easy interface this is a 3 star product.
